Group Health Cooperative (GHC) Center for Health Studies (CHS)
| CHS is the research department of GHC, a non-profit, mixed-model HMO with >500,000 members in Washington. CHS has 27 PhD and MD researchers and 19 affiliate investigators with most CHS investigators having faculty appointments at the University of Washington. GHC has formal affiliation agreements with the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. CHS is the lead center for two large HMORN collaboratives: the NHLBI-funded Coordinated Clinical Studies Network and NCI-funded Cancer Research Network. CHS has participated in the Cardiovascular Health Study, and has a program examining antihypertensive drug/gene interactions and CVD events; hormone therapy and prothrombotic variants; and pharmacogenetics of CVD events, statin-associated rhabdomyolysis, and atrial fibrillation. CHS investigators are also studying the impact of adding depression case management to high risk patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes. |
